THE SCALE OF THE CHALLENGE

A non-stop solo row from mainland Western Australia to mainland Africa has never been achieved before

The journey will consist of 8,358 kilometres and take between 150 to 220 days. Rob will be rowing 12-15 hours a day, taking on waves in excess of 10 metres and burning more calories than he can consume – all in an ocean rowing boat.  Approximately 10 times the number of people have been into space compared to those who have rowed across the Indian Ocean. Only 7 people have rowed across the Indian Ocean solo, stopping at Islands along the way. If successful, Rob will be the first rower to achieve a crossing of the Indian Ocean from mainland Australia to mainland Africa.

the boat

The boat Rob will be rowing in has been rowed across the Atlantic Ocean in 2015, from Western Australia to Mauritius in 2017 and from mainland Europe to mainland South America in 2019. The boat will now be made ready for this never before non-stop solo row across the Indian Ocean.
